On November 1, Montgomery County Officials celebrated the opening of the Lafayette Street Connector which now links Lafayette Street (@Ford Street) to Conshohocken Road. The new road is part of a multi-phase project which will eventually lead to an on/off-ramp from the Turnpike being installed.
If you have not checked out the new section of the road, do it. I finally used the road over the weekend to travel from Plymouth to Bridgeport. Gone are the days of weaving in/out of Norristown streets and waiting at antiquated intersections overcrowded by traffic. I was able to make the trip in a fraction of the time. The new road offers 2 lanes of travel in both directions.
The next phase of the project has received funding and work will being shortly. More improvements to come!
The project website is a bit behind actual progress but you can check in from time-to-time by clicking here.
Happy Travels!
